Urology Treatment
Urology focuses on the surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. We work with the best specialists to diagnose, treat, and manage patients with urological disorders. These specialists handle a wide range of conditions that affect the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, urethra, and male genital structures. Their expertise also includes the management of cancerous and non-cancerous conditions affecting these organs.
Cystoscopy: A diagnostic procedure that allows the urologist to look directly inside the bladder and urethra using a cystoscope, a thin tube with a camera and light at the end. This procedure can help identify problems such as bladder stones, tumours, and infections.
Ureteroscopy: Similar to cystoscopy, but specifically focused on examining the ureters (the tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder). It can also be used to treat kidney stones.
Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP): A surgical procedure to treat urinary problems due to an enlarged prostate by removing prostate tissue. This is one of the most common procedures for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Vasectomy: A surgical procedure for male sterilisation or permanent contraception. It involves cutting and sealing the vas deferens, which are the tubes that carry sperm.
Kidney stone removal: There are several methods to remove kidney stones, including lithotripsy, which uses shock waves to break up stones into smaller pieces that can be passed in urine, and percutaneous nephrolithotomy, a surgical procedure to remove large stones from the kidney.
Prostate biopsy: A procedure to remove small samples of prostate tissue to be examined under a microscope for signs of cancer.
Urodynamic testing: A series of tests that assess how well the bladder, urethra, and sphincters are storing and releasing urine. It helps diagnose problems with urine flow and control.
Penile implants: Surgical procedure to treat erectile dysfunction. A device is placed inside the penis to allow men with erectile dysfunction (ED) to get an erection.
Sling procedures: Surgical procedures to treat urinary incontinence. A sling is placed around the urethra to lift it into a more normal position and to exert pressure on it to aid urine retention.
Bladder repair/surgery: This can include procedures to treat urinary incontinence, bladder prolapse, or bladder cancer, such as cystectomy (removal of the bladder) and urinary diversion.
